PESHAWAR, Oct 20 (APP):The second phase of anti-polio campaign has begun Monday across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The campaign, scheduled to run from October 20 to 23, aims at immunizing nearly one million children in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan divisions against the poliovirus.
According to official sources, this phase of the campaign will cover Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and South Waziristan (Lower) districts.
Trained polio workers will administer drops to children under the age of five to ensure maximum protection against the virus.
A total of 6,424 teams have been formed for this campaign, supported by around 10,000 security personnel to ensure the safety of health workers and smooth implementation of the drive.
In the first phase of the anti-polio campaign, conducted earlier this month, over 6.1 million children were successfully vaccinated across 29 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating polio from the province and called on parents to cooperate with vaccination teams to protect future generations from the crippling disease.
