RAWALPINDI, Oct 20 (APP):The Murree Development Forum hosted a one-day seminar at the Murree Incubation Center, highlighting key challenges confronting agricultural environmental institutions.
Experts expounded into innovative concepts, fresh ideas, possibilities and ways to exploit workable opportunities while addressing issues like climate variability, resource reduction and regulatory gaps. The speakers also deliberated on the adoptable strategies to combat the prevailing issues.
The event, attended by farmers, policymakers, and agricultural professionals underscored the urgent need for resilient environmental frameworks in agriculture.
Dr. Muhammad Ahmad, Deputy Director, Agriculture Extension Murree, while highlighting the issues presented the initiatives taken by the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, empowering farmers and boosting eco friendly measures.
He highlighted the Kisan Card programme, which empowers small scaled farmers with subsidized inputs to combat environmental challenges, the Green Tractor Scheme, promoting eco-friendly mechanization to reduce emissions and soil compaction, fencing facilities to protect farmlands from erosion and wildlife intrusion and the Agri Graduates Internship Program for 2025-26, designed to infuse fresh expertise into environmental professionalism.
The director urged farmers to leverage these agriculture-friendly measures.
“The Punjab government is committed to modernizing the sector, equipping our environmental institutions with latest tools and policies”, he said.
