ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP):In connection with World Food Day, the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) organized a series of awareness seminars across the city to highlight the importance of food safety and hygiene.
The sessions brought together traders, food brand representatives, and officials from the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries to discuss joint efforts for safe food supply.
As part of its World Food Day campaign, the Islamabad Food Authority held multiple awareness seminars focused on food safety, hygiene practices, and public health protection.
The seminars aimed to educate traders and food business operators on maintaining hygiene standards and following official safety guidelines.
In this regard, Deputy Director Operations Dr. Tahira Siddique represented the authority at these events and underlined the significance of collaborative efforts between the IFA and the local business community.
She said the authority, in partnership with traders, was committed to ensuring that citizens have access to safe and hygienic food.
A large number of traders from across the city took part and engaged actively in the discussions.
Special lectures were also delivered during the seminars to highlight food safety protocols and the importance of cleanliness in food preparation and handling. Speakers emphasized that maintaining hygiene at every stage of food production and sale was essential to prevent contamination and ensure consumer safety.
Dr. Tahira Siddique, in her address, explained the key responsibilities and initiatives of the Islamabad Food Authority. She stressed that traders must strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the IFA to maintain food quality and compliance with regulations.
Participants from the business community appreciated the authority’s efforts and assured their full cooperation in implementing food safety measures.
They also discussed ways to enhance coordination with the IFA to improve monitoring and awareness at food outlets across Islamabad.
During the question-and-answer session, the Deputy Director Operations responded to traders’ queries regarding inspection processes, licensing, and food quality checks.
She reiterated that the authority’s mission is not punitive but preventive — focused on awareness, guidance, and support for businesses to meet safety standards.
Several food outlets also contributed to the campaign by organizing joint awareness activities to spread the message of food safety among their staff and customers.
These initiatives reflected growing awareness within the local food industry about the importance of compliance and public health.
Through this World Food Day campaign, the Islamabad Food Authority aimed to strengthen its partnership with traders, foster a culture of food safety, and ensure that every citizen of the federal capital can access clean and safe food.
