FAISALABAD, Oct 16 (APP): Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry has said that educated youth are a key for national development and prosperity.
He was addressing a seminar on “Literacy and Knowledge” as chief guest for Developing Young Leaders Program at Government College Women University (GCWU) Madina Town.
He said that it is imperative to equip the youth with digital technology and other modern knowledge to promote their leadership potential.
To achieve these objectives, opportunities for mental maturity must be provided through the habit of book reading and acquisition of knowledge and skills, he added.
He praised the organizers’ efforts and termed the enthusiastic seminar as highly beneficial and a necessity of the time for motivating youth towards reading and modern knowledge and skills.
He said that global development can only be met through a force of youth equipped with knowledge and skills. He suggested that reputable organizations should focus on academic promotion and increase their innovative and scholarly activities alongside government educational institutions.
He said that women constitute more than half of the country’s population. The literacy and modern education must be promoted among them to ensure their inclusion in national progress, he added.
Citing world-renowned and talented women, he said that women lack no potential and the society can only develop rapidly by empowering them.
He urged the students to focus on their academic pursuits and access to knowledge to ensure a bright future and progress of the country.
He also lauded the scholarly efforts of the Society for Reading and Knowledge in promoting reading.
GCWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Kanwal Ameen presided over the seminar jointly organized by Learning Resource Center of GCWU and the Society for Reading and Knowledge to to promote a reading culture, critical thinking and leadership skills among female students through essay writing and speech competitions.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Kanwal Ameen encouraged the students to adopt purposeful reading habits that refine character and broaden their perspective on life and the world.
Among other speakers included Tariq Khan Niazi Director Women Development Department Punjab, Rana Muhammad Abid, Waheed Khaliq Ramay and renowned poet Adnan Baig who illuminated the revolutionary power of reading, creative abilities and academic engagement.
Seminar Convener Prof Dr. Saima Akram presented the welcome address while the event concluded with the distribution of memorial shields among the guests and certificates among the participants.
