Justice Soomro heard the petition filed by citizen Nilofar against the eradication and genocide of stray dogs in the federal capital. Citizen Naveeda Asim appeared in the court and also requested to become a party in the main case, stating that on October 9, she saw a vehicle near the CDA office in Islamabad with hundreds of dead dogs lying in it.
The court accepted the woman’s miscellaneous application to become a party in the main case, making the statement of the eyewitness woman who saw the dead dogs in the vehicle part of the record. The court remarked that if the killing of dogs is confirmed, an FIR will be registered.
The petitioner’s lawyer Altamash Saeed said that the CDA and the MCI in Islamabad catch and shoot dogs, then a policy was made in 2020 to stop this practice.
