LAHORE, Oct 15 (APP): Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt on Wednesday took immediate notice of a harrowing incident of child abuse reported from Baghbanpura area of Lahore, where a man allegedly assaulted his 15-year-old daughter.
According to police sources, the accused was arrested shortly after the victim’s statement was recorded. The girl informed authorities that her father had threatened to harm both her and her mother if she disclosed the crime. A case has been registered, and the victim’s statement has been recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
On special directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the PWPA chairperson sought a detailed report from DIG Operations Lahore. She strongly condemned the incident, terming it a reflection of extreme moral and social deterioration. “Such heinous crimes cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. Perpetrators of violence against women and children deserve the severest punishment,” she said.
Hina Parvez directed the police to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation and provide complete legal and psychological assistance to the victim and her family. She emphasised the need to fulfill all legal requirements to ensure exemplary punishment for the accused.
She added that alongside strict legal action, the government is also focusing on public awareness, education, and mental health interventions to prevent such horrific incidents in the future.
