Balochistan CM vows to empower youth, fight terrorism

QUETTA, Oct 15 (APP): Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti declared on Wednesday that the war against terrorism is a battle for Pakistan’s survival, emphasizing that the youth are the country’s most valuable asset.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the National Youth Summit 2025 at BUITEMS University, Quetta, CM Bugti stressed the need for sustained, meaningful dialogue with the youth to secure a brighter future for the nation.
He warned that anti-state elements based abroad are actively working to radicalize Pakistani youth, but expressed confidence in the resilience of the nation, built on truth, sacrifice, and unity.
He stressed the need for a grand dialogue to inform and engage youth, reaffirming his commitment to stand with the oppressed under the Constitution of Pakistan.
Sarfraz Bugti affirmed that he and his cabinet are on the frontlines of the fight against terrorism, warning that inaction would bring the war to every household.
To empower youth, CM Sarfraz Bugti announced that internet access will be provided to all high schools, colleges, and universities across Balochistan.
Bugti paid tribute to security forces personnel martyred in Chaman, honoring their sacrifice.
The Chief Minister outlined a series of reforms including ban on poppy cultivation, landowners involved will face legal action, with tubewells demolished and land chemically treated to prevent future cultivation.
Under the youth enterprise development program an amount of Rs. 16 billion has been allocated to benefit 16,000 youth, with a focus on imparting practical skills.
The CM said mines and minerals act would be reintroduced to ensure equitable distribution of resource benefits.
He said that in the current budget Rs. 80 billion has been earmarked for health despite the 80 percent of the provincial budget goes to non-developmental expenses.
Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that merit and transparency will be key to restoring public trust.
He said around 1,800 absentee teachers have been dismissed to improve discipline and effectiveness in schools to ensure educational accountability.
The Chief Minister announced the establishment of Women Protection Force, a new unit will be established to respond swiftly to workplace harassment and ensure safety for women and girls.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reform, peace, education, and meritocracy.
“The determination of the youth, the trust of the women, and the unity of the people—this is the real strength of Balochistan, and this is the foundation of the State of Pakistan,” he declared.
