ATTOCK, Oct 15 (APP):Dengue fever is spreading rapidly across Attock district as the number of patients keeps increasing with each passing day. Health officials have confirmed 72 cases so far this season. Out of these, 56 are local, while 16 have been reported as imported from other areas, the local correspondent of APP reported from Attock city, on Wednesday, citing the sources of local health officials.
According to the details, in the last 24 hours, two new cases were reported, one each from Attock and Jand tehsils. At present, five patients are admitted to tertiary care hospitals. All of them are stable, and no patient is in a critical condition.
According to the District Health Authority Attock, Tehsil Attock has reported the highest number of 33 cases, including three imported. Pindi Gheb has recorded 10 cases, with six imported. Jand has reported 11 cases, including one imported.
Hassan Abdal has nine cases, including two imported. Fatehjang has seven cases, with three imported, and Hazro has two cases, including one imported.
Health experts say stagnant water, poor sanitation, and delayed fumigation are the main causes behind the growing number of dengue cases in the district. They have urged citizens to take preventive measures and avoid letting water accumulate in open areas.
An official of the District Health Authority said that field teams have been directed to speed up anti-dengue operations, larvicidal activities, and awareness campaigns. He warned that the number of cases is rising every day, and if strict action is not taken immediately, the situation could worsen.
Residents of the affected tehsils have expressed concern over poor preventive steps by the authorities. They have demanded urgent and effective measures to stop the spread of the disease before it turns into a larger outbreak.
