BAHAWALPUR, Oct 15 (APP): The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and Université Sultan Moulay Slimane (USMS), Morocco, have agreed to sign a five-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote international cooperation in education, research, and innovation.
The agreement was finalised during an online meeting between delegations of both universities. The IUB team was led by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, while the USMS delegation was headed by Vice President Prof. Dr. Hafida Hanine.
The Moroccan delegation included senior academics and administrators, including Prof. Dr. Abderrazak El-Harti, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Farissi, Prof. Dr. El-Mostafa Bachaoaui, Prof. Dr. Abderrahmene El Ghmari, Mr. Nabil Boukhnief, and Prof. Dr. Mustapha Zanzoun.
From IUB, senior officials and deans participated, including Registrar Muhammad Shaji-ur-Rehman, Director and Focal Person Prof. Dr. Ghulam Hasan Abbasi, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rauf, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Prof. Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dr. Abid Shahzad, Faisal Shehzad, and Dr. Shahzad Ahmad Khalid.
The MoU sets a framework for cooperation based on equality and reciprocity, covering student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, academic seminars, sharing of research resources, and development of digital learning tools. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Hasan Abbasi has been designated as the Focal Person for overseeing its signing and implementation.
The partnership represents a significant step in strengthening academic and research linkages between Pakistan and Morocco. Designed for an initial term of five years, the MoU aims to foster sustainable collaboration and contribute to the advancement of global higher education.
