Pakistan win Lahore test against South Africa by 93 runs

LAHORE, Oct 15 (APP):Inspired four-wicket hauls by Noman Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi in the second innings helped Pakistan demolish South Africa for 183-10 and beat them by 93 runs in the post-lunch session of the fourth day at the Gaddafi stadium here on Tuesday. Pakistan has won a test match at the Gaddafi stadium after 19 years as they last beat West Indies on this ground in 2006.
Pakistan’s victory means they halted South Africa’s 10-match winning streak in the ICC World Test Championship matches. With a victory in the first match in the new ICC WTC cycle Pakistan has moved to the fifth spot on the WTC table behind Australia, Sri Lanka, India and England.
Dewald Brevis 54 (54) was the highest scorer for South Africa in the second innings while Ryan Rickelton played a fighting knock of 45 (145).
In an inspired spell of fast bowling Shaeen Shah Afridi evoked fond memories of the great Wasim Akram as he claimed last three wickets Verreynne, Subrayen and Kagiso Rabada and brought the proteas to their knees. Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged 4 for 33 in 8.5 overs. Noman Ali who took 10-wicket haul in the match snared four players through his guile gave away gave 79 runs in marathon 28 overs for four wickets. Sajid Khan picked two wickets for 38 runs in 14 overs. Hasan Ali and Salman Agha remained wicketless.
