SIALKOT, Oct 14 (APP):The agriculture department advised farmers to complete cultivation of garlic crops within the month of October, marking it as the final deadline for optimal yield.
Speaking to APP, Agriculture Officer Zeeshan Goriaya emphasized that October is a critical month for garlic planting due to its sensitivity to seasonal conditions. He urged all farmers in the region to ensure timely cultivation to avoid production losses.
For better yield, Goriaya recommended using healthy garlic seeds—preferably pink garlic seeds or GS1-approved varieties—at the rate of 160 kg per acre.
He also stressed the importance of selecting fertile land, preparing the soil by running a cultivator at least three times, and applying 20 to 25 tons of organic fertilizer per acre.
