LAHORE, Oct 13 (APP):Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s (PSCA) Public Safety App has enabled a speech-impaired citizen to report a domestic violence incident through a video call, setting a new benchmark in accessible emergency response.
According to the PSCA spokesperson, the incident occurred in Lahore’s Gulberg area, where a citizen unable to speak contacted the 15 emergency helpline via the app. Using sign language during the video call, the individual conveyed complaint to a sign-language-trained officer. The officer promptly understood the situation and dispatched a police team to the location.
Swift action by the Safe City Control Room ensured immediate relief for the citizen.
The Public Safety App, developed under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, includes specialised features to assist persons with disabilities during emergencies, said spokesperson.
The authority emphasised that the App was equipped to serve all citizens and is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms.
