BEIJING, Oct 13 (APP): China sincerely hopes that Pakistan and Afghanistan will focus on the broader picture, remain calm and restrained, adhere to resolving mutual concerns through dialogue and consultation, avoid escalating conflicts, and jointly maintain peace and stability in both countries and the region, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday.
In response to a question on the recent Pakistan-Afghanistan border clashes during his regular press briefing, he said, Recently, conflicts have occurred between Pakistan and Afghanistan, leading to tense relations, which we are deeply concerned about.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are both friendly neighbors of China. As inseparable neighbors themselves, maintaining good relations, achieving socio-economic development, and jointly combating terrorism serve the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides, Lin said.
China is willing to continue playing a constructive role in promoting the improvement and development of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, the spokesperson noted.
China has urged both sides to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in the countries, Lin added.
