Polio eradication drive kicks off in Matiari district

HYDERABAD, Oct 13 (APP):On the first day of the National Immunization campaign, the Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh, SSP Rao Muhammad Arif Aslam, District Health Officer Dr. Asif Hussain Shah, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Sattar Shaikh and officers from the revenue and health departments briefed mobile polio teams at the town hospital Matiari.
During the briefing, special instructions were issued to ensure that children from migrant populations, newly settled residents and newborns are all administered the anti-polio drops without exception.
Following the session, the Deputy Commissioner and other officials visited several transit points including Matiari Bus Stand, Nasarpur Stop, Khaiber Stop, Jumma Shehwak, Saeedabad Taluka Hospital, Hala Taluka Hospital and Bhit Shah Rural Health Center. They reviewed the performance of the polio teams and interacted with parents.
Speaking at Saeedabad Taluka Hospital, the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yousif Shaikh said that the target for Matiari district was to vaccinate 182,000 children against polio. He added that 545 teams had been deployed for this purpose, while 22 transit sites had been established at key locations to cover children coming from other districts.
