CHINIOT, Oct 13 (APP):The anti-polio campaign on Monday was launched in district as Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Safiullah Gondal formally inaugurated the campaign at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) .
The inauguration ceremony was attended by officers of the health department, Rescue 1122, livestock, education and representatives of other departments.
On this occasion, the deputy commissioner administered polio vaccination to children up to the age of five and applied marks on their fingers.
The four-day polio campaign will continue from October 13 to 16, during which a target of 297,122 children up to the age of five years would0 be administerted vaccine against polio.
As many as 1467 teams are participating in the campaign, which will go door to door to vaccinate children.
Safiullah Gondal said that the cooperation of parents was indispensable for a polio-free Pakistan.
Parents should vaccinate their children up to the age of five years to protect them from permanent disability, he added.
He directed that the micro plan should be fully implemented and the campaign should be monitored twice so that there was no room for negligence or carelessness.
