Court acquits accused in drugs smuggling case

ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (APP):An Anti-Narcotics Court (ANC) on Thursday acquitted an accused in a drugs case No. 20/23 registered at ANF Police Station Rawalpindi.
ANC Judge Dr. Abida Sajjad heard the acquittal plea of accused Ghazigul in the said case.
During the hearing, Danish Akbar Khan Advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the accused and took the plea that the accused was arrested on the basis of suspicion.
He argued that the accused has nothing to do with the alleged drugs, neither was any video made of the timely recovery of the incident nor the vehicle is in the name of the accused.
In drug cases, the prosecution is bound to prove its case beyond any doubt, which it could not do. The named accused does not have any criminal record, he said.
After hearing the arguments, a reserved verdict was pronounced in which the accused was acquitted from the case.
It should be remembered that Ghazigul was accused of smuggling 02 kg of hashish, one kg of ice in case No. 20/23 registered against him.
