LAHORE, Oct 08 (APP):The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict on bail petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former senator Ejaz Chaudhry in three cases linked to the May 9 riots.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi heard the petitions filed by the PTI leader.
During the proceedings, Chaudhry’s counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, argued that the trial court had dismissed the bail pleas contrary to the facts. He further submitted that Ejaz Chaudhry was under house arrest and in Islamabad when the incidents occurred, insisting that there was no evidence connecting him to the acts of arson or vandalism.
Conversely, the prosecution acknowledged that Chaudhry was neither present at the scene nor named in the FIRs but alleged that he had provoked party workers through social media. The prosecution also claimed that ten petrol bombs were recovered from his residence and urged the court to dismiss the bail pleas.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its judgment.
The PTI leader had filed bail petitions in three cases, including torching of the PML-N office in Model Town and a container in Gulberg.
