KARACHI, Oct 08 (APP):Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Wednesday directed Deputy Commissioners to achieve 100 per cent vaccination coverage for the anti-polio campaign scheduled from October 13 to 19.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Wednesday to review preparations and arrangements before the campaign.
The Commissioner will hold review meetings daily, and Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners will brief him on arrangements for vaccinating children who have missed or refused polio drops.
Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners have been asked to contact community and religious leaders, teachers, and influential individuals in their areas daily to reach parents of children who have refused vaccination and raise awareness about the benefits and importance of vaccination.
Additional Commissioner I Ghulam Mehdi Shah Commission’s Coordinator for Polio Eradication Saud Yaqoob all Deputy Commissioners attended the meeting, while Assistant Commissioners participated via video link.
The meeting reviewed arrangements, and Deputy Commissioners briefed the Commissioner on difficulties and obstacles in vaccinating children in their districts.
The meeting decided that Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners would contact religious leaders, teachers, and influential individuals in their areas to reach parents and raise awareness about vaccination.
Assistant Commissioners briefed the Commissioner separately via video link, providing details about the current situation, children who have missed or refused vaccination, and efforts to contact parents.
The Commissioner was informed that a list of parents of children who have refused vaccination has been prepared, and efforts are underway to contact them.
A training program for Assistant Commissioners will be held on Thursday, where they will participate with relevant social mobilizers to learn about vaccination procedures and its benefits, enabling them to effectively raise awareness among parents about the importance of polio vaccination.
