RAWALPINDI, Oct 08 (APP):The Rescue 1122 Murree marked the National Resilience Day on Wednesday with a series of awareness activities, including an awareness walk and seminars, aimed at educating citizens on disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
Following the directions of Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer, the day was observed to pay tribute to the victims of the October 8, 2005 earthquake and to intensify public awareness on disaster preparedness.
An awareness walk was organised at Mall Road’s GPO Chowk, which drew a large number of Rescue officials, scouts, students, civil society members, and citizens. The participants carried placards inscribed with messages on disaster prevention and safety measures.
Speaking on the occasion, District Emergency Officer Engineer Kamran Rasheed said that Rescue 1122 personnel were always prepared to respond to any emergency situation. He emphasised that timely action and preventive measures could help save precious lives and property in the event of natural disasters.
Engineer Kamran Rasheed further said that the Community Safety Wing Murree was actively engaged in raising awareness among citizens and organising free training programmes on disaster preparedness. He added that Rescue 1122, since its inception, had remained committed to serving the public with dedication and professionalism to ensure a safer society.
Seminars were also held at the Central Control Room at Jinnah Hall, the Kohsar University Mall Road campus and other public venues. Participants expressed solidarity with the victims of the October 8, 2005 earthquake and paid tribute to the institutions that played a vital role in relief operations that followed the disaster.
