KARACHI, Oct 07 (APP): The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to construct an alternative road to ease the traffic burden and address recurring repair issues of the Natha Khan Bridge.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Mayor, attended by Municipal Commissioner S. M. Afzal Zaidi (PAS) and senior officials from the Engineering Department, here on Tuesday.
Due to the bridge’s deteriorating condition and repeated incidents of iron theft, the structure has required frequent maintenance, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
Taking notice of the situation, Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, directed the KMC Engineering Department to initiate the construction of an alternative route to ensure smooth traffic flow and long-term relief for the citizens.
The Mayor emphasized the need for a permanent and sustainable solution rather than temporary fixes.
He instructed the teams to complete a detailed survey within one week and commence construction immediately after its submission. Work on the survey and route planning has already begun, he said.
Barrister Murtaza stated, “It is our utmost responsibility to address public grievances and resolve civic issues without delay. The residents deserve visible and lasting solutions. The Natha Khan corridor is a crucial link connecting the city to the airport and major motorways — this project must be executed and completed on a fast-track basis.”
The KMC reiterated its commitment to improving urban infrastructure and providing safe, efficient commuting facilities for the citizens of Karachi.
