KARACHI, Oct 07 (APP):The establishment of the first modern Central Investigation Cell (CIC) in Karachi’s West Zone has begun yielding impressive results, with the case resolution rate reaching 80 percent. The next focus, officials say, is to increase the conviction rate of arrested suspects.

Speaking to APP on Tuesday, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) West Zone Irfan Baloch said that from January to September 2025, more than 1,245 cases were registered in the zone, out of which over 953 cases have been successfully solved.
He said the creation of the CIC has improved efficiency and introduced innovation in the investigation process by integrating modern techniques, technology, and updated investigative procedures.
According to DIGP Irfan Baloch, the establishment of the CIC has led to a significant rise in the resolution of criminal cases, including those involving traffic accidents, identification parades, and arrests of key suspects.
He added that CIC cells have been set up at the divisional level in the West Zone, monitored by SDPOs and SPs of the investigation department. Each cell is equipped with necessary facilities such as an IT lab, interrogation room, witness room, and conference hall, ensuring investigations are carried out efficiently while also addressing public complaints effectively.
DIGP Irfan Baloch is credited with initiating the concept of the Central Investigation Cell, first implemented in the West Zone. Following its successful results, Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon and Additional IGP Karachi Javed Alam Odho visited the cell and subsequently directed the establishment of similar units across Sindh.
