QUETTA, Oct 7 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti emphasized that combating corruption is a shared responsibility, urging the youth to unite in building a prosperous, resilient, and transparent Balochistan for future generations.
He added that corruption is Balochistan’s foremost challenge, having undermined the integrity of provincial departments, affected social cohesion and eroded the youth’s trust in public institutions.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Inter-University Sports Festival held at BUITEMS on Anti-Corruption Day, Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that the security forces are fully equipped to handle law and order challenges, while development and governance are impossible without rooting out corruption from the province.
Sarfraz Bugti announced the launch of Balochistan’s first-ever Youth Policy, urging the young people to foil propaganda against the homeland and remain committed to the state.
He acknowledged grievances related to employment and governance but stressed that these should not lead to alienation from the nation.
“The youth must not become part of any propaganda against Pakistan and must work for the development of the country,” he added.
Highlighting merit-based reforms, Sarfraz Bugti noted that over 12,000 to 16000 teachers had been recruited in the Education Department purely on merit and we are introducing this consistency of merit in every sector. He pledged to expand sports infrastructure and provide ample opportunities for youth engagement.
To combat corruption, the Chief Minister said the government is strengthening oversight bodies including NAB, the Chief Minister Inspection Team, and the Anti-Corruption Establishment. He emphasized that accountability processes are transparent from any political and personal influence.
Sarfraz Bugti shared that the Chairman of the Chief Minister Inspection Team had filed a report against his own brother, underscoring the administration’s commitment to transparency.
Addressing the youth, Bugti called the youth as true strength of the nation, urging them to embrace honesty and service. He stressed that corruption extends beyond financial misconduct to include negligence and breach of public trust.
Sarfraz Bugti reiterated that Balochistan’s resources are a public trust and must be used solely for the welfare of its people. He called on all citizens including officials, educators, and students to uphold integrity and transparency in their roles.
He concluded by praising the organizers of the Sports Festival, noting that such events foster discipline, teamwork, and tolerance values essential for a corruption-free society.
Sarfraz Bugti affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing youth-focused initiatives, including a forthcoming Youth Summit. The event was also addressed by Advisor to the chief minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed Baloch, Director General NAB Balochistan Nauman Aslam, and BUITEMS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Hafeez.
