ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (APP):The Islamabad district administration has reported a decline in dengue cases as 16 new infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, while 22,694 anti-dengue activities have been carried out across the Federal Capital, and 10 people have been arrested for violating dengue prevention guidelines.
According to the spokesman of the district administration here, the authority has issued its latest daily dengue monitoring report, showing progress in ongoing efforts to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne virus.
According to the report, 16 new dengue cases were confirmed during the past 24 hours, with 11 patients admitted to different hospitals in the federal capital. Health teams remain active in high-risk areas to identify and control potential breeding sites.
During the same period, anti-dengue fogging operations were completed at 1,441 locations across Islamabad. The administration confirmed that it has now achieved its cumulative target of 22,694 preventive actions, which include indoor and outdoor spraying, larval control, and awareness drives.
The report added that dengue larvae were detected at 239 sites during inspection visits. Health officials immediately launched fogging and monitoring at all affected homes and surrounding areas to prevent further spread.
In a crackdown on violations of dengue prevention guidelines, 10 individuals were arrested for not following standard operating procedures (SOPs). The administration has maintained strict compliance measures across residential, commercial, and construction sites.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon directed all assistant commissioners and health teams to continue operations without discrimination and take firm action against those responsible for mosquito breeding. “A zero-tolerance policy is in place for violations of dengue SOPs,” the DC stated, adding that cases will be registered against individuals or property owners found contributing to larvae growth.
The district administration reaffirmed that inspections, fogging, and awareness campaigns will continue in all urban and rural sectors until the dengue situation is fully under control. Teams are also coordinating with hospitals to ensure timely reporting and treatment of new cases.
Officials urged citizens to cooperate with field teams, remove standing water, and keep their surroundings clean to help prevent the spread of dengue.
With consistent monitoring and preventive actions, the administration expects the number of daily cases to decline further in the coming days.
