MULTAN, Oct 06 (APP): Following heavy rain on Sunday night and Monday, Managing Director WASA Khalid Raza Khan issued a high alert and mobilized all teams to commence emergency drainage operations citywide. He directed all disposal stations to operate at full capacity and personally supervised the efforts, accompanied by Deputy Managing Director (Engineering) Zeeshan Shaukat Gondal.
Addressing challenges posed by load-shedding, the MD ordered pumping stations to run on generators and instructed officials to maintain close coordination with MEPCO for timely power restoration. After the initial rainfall, most affected areas were cleared of water, but a subsequent downpour on Monday afternoon caused flooding in some parts of the city again.
WASA teams worked continuously throughout the day to manage drainage operations without interruption. The highest rainfall was recorded at Kuri Jamandan with 161 mm, followed by Chungi No. 9 (132 mm), Samijabad (112 mm), Khan Village (86 mm), Old Shujabad (67 mm), and Suraj Miani (54 mm).
MD WASA kept Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan and Deputy Commissioner Waseem Hamid Sindhu updated on the ongoing situation and instructed all staff to remain on duty until complete clearance of rainwater is achieved.
