PSX loses 1,237 points to close at 167,752

ISLAMABAD, Oct 6 (APP):The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Monday, as the benchmark KSE-100 index lost 1,237.66 points, showing a negative change of 0.73 percent, closing at 167,752.41 points against 168,990.07 points on the previous trading day.
A total of 1,274,364,327 shares were traded during the day compared to 1,573,346,286 shares on the previous trading session, whereas the share value stood at Rs60.54 billion against Rs78.66 billion previously.
As many as 487 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, out of which 108 recorded gains, 348 sustained losses, whereas 31 remained unchanged.
The three top-trading companies were Bank of Punjab with 131,310,593 shares at Rs34.46 per share, K-Electric Ltd with 110,020,680 shares at Rs7.02 per share, and Bank Makramah with 78,284,377 shares at Rs8.29 per share.
Sapphire Fibres Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs75.96 per share, closing at Rs1,442.75, followed by Siemens (Pakistan) Engineering which rose by Rs39.08 to close at Rs1,602.43.
On the other hand, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited recorded a maximum decrease of Rs2,692.27 per share to close at Rs29,297.72, followed by PIA Holding Company Limited-B which declined by Rs399.70 to close at Rs25,450.00.
In the futures market, a total of 315 companies transacted shares, out of which 67 recorded gains, 247 sustained losses, and one remained unchanged.
A volume of 267,606,500 shares was traded with a value of Rs14.85 billion. Bank of Punjab (BOP-OCTB) remained the most active with 44,694,500 shares at Rs34.84 per share.
AICL-OCTB registered the highest gain of Rs8.03 to close at Rs88.32, while Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL-OCTB) recorded the maximum decrease of Rs19.09 to close at Rs722.94.
