RAWALPINDI, Oct 06 (APP): The Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) is delivering quality cardiac care, adhering to Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) while maintaining the health protocols devised by the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) to enhance patient outcomes.
The Medical Superintendent RIC, Dr. Qurban Hussain Khan, affirmed hospital’s operational excellence in a brief interaction with the APP here on Monday.
“We maintain rigorous MSDS protocols for standardized health services, ensuring accessible and safe treatment for all,” he said.
The RIC, one of Punjab government’s robust cardiac treatment facilities in the city, is not only maintaining affordable cardiac protocols, but also shouldering the patients’ influx from other regions like Azad Kashmir and neighbouring areas.
“We regularly measure the performance of service delivery, highlight the challenges, and deliberate on further improvement”, he said.

To another question, he underlined the root causes of surging cardiovascular diseases among youth, driven by poor diets, inactivity and smoking. He urged the youth to shift to oily and processed foods for natural options, along with anaerobic exercises that ‘draw energy directly from body muscles to enhance heart health’.
He stressed about quitting smoking and embracing healthy activities for youth, while terming these initiatives as essentials.
