ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP):Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engr Amir Muqam has strongly condemned the assassination attempt on renowned Islamic scholar and Ameer of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat Gilgit-Baltistan and Kohistan, Maulana Qazi Nisar Ahmed, and has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident.
The minister, who is currently on an official visit abroad, was informed about the attack during his trip. Upon receiving the news, he immediately contacted the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Secretary, and the Inspector General of Police, seeking a detailed report on the incident, said a press release.
Muqam emphasized that Maulana Qazi Nisar Ahmed is a highly respected religious leader and an esteemed figure in the region. “An attack on him is not just an attack on an individual, but an assault on the peace and stability of the entire area,” he said.
He directed authorities to utilize all available resources to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice under the full extent of the law. “Those involved in this heinous crime will not escape justice,” the minister affirmed.
Commending the unity demonstrated by the public in the face of this act of terrorism, Muqam said, “Public solidarity against terrorist elements is our true strength. Such unity sends a clear message to the enemies of peace.”
He also praised Maulana Qazi Nisar Ahmed’s call for calm and peace despite being injured, calling it a reflection of his wisdom and exemplary leadership. “His appeal to the public to maintain peace, even in such dire circumstances, is highly commendable,” the minister stated.
Muqam appealed to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly the youth, to continue playing a proactive role in maintaining peace and harmony in the region. The minister concluded by offering prayers for the swift recovery of Maulana Qazi Nisar Ahmed and all others injured in the attack.
