PESHAWAR, Oct 04 (APP): The Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) on Saturday inaugurated its annual month-long free breast screening camp to mark October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The camp will remain operational from October 4 to October 31, 2025.
According to a hospital spokesperson, the initiative aims to provide women with comprehensive breast health services completely free of cost. These services include clinical check-ups, mammograms, and biopsy procedures where necessary. The hospital will also run awareness and guidance sessions for all visitors.
In a new development this year, the Breast Care Unit has formed a “Survivors Group” comprising women who have successfully overcome breast cancer. Members of this group will share their experiences, guide other women through treatment process, and provide crucial encouragement and support.
“The goal of this special camp is to create awareness, promote timely diagnosis, and provide easy access to treatment, which can save countless lives,” the spokesperson stated.
The camp is being supervised by Professor Dr. Mah Munir Khan, Chairperson of the Surgery Department, and Assistant Professor Dr. Iram Sabir.
The KTH administration has appealed to all women not to neglect their health and to take advantage of this free facility, reinforcing the message that “The best protection is timely diagnosis.”
