MULTAN, Oct 03 (APP):The Multan Union of Journalists (MUJ) on Thursday staged a protest demonstration in front of Multan Press Club to condemn the recent attack on National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad.
Representatives of various media bodies and press clubs participated in the protest, expressing solidarity with their colleagues in the capital.
The demonstration was led by MUJ President Malik Shahadat Hussain and General Secretary Mazhar Khan. Among the participants were PFUJ Assistant Secretary Jamshed Rizwani, Khalid Chaudhry, Mehr Imran, Anjum Pitafi, Syed Mazen Yousaf, Jan Sher Khan, Salman Qureshi, Hafeezullah Bhangu, Rafiqat Anjum, Nadeem Haider, Mehboob Malik, Chaudhry Ashraf Javed, Furqan Bhatti, Nauman Bhutta, Rashid Mushtaq, Mehboob Chughtai, Sohail Qureshi, Zafar-ul-Islam, Yasir Bhatti, Khawaja Ashraf Siddiqi, Fayyaz Bhatti, Muhammad Sadiq Anjum, Dalzeeb Akash, Shakeel Javed, Muhammad Sultan, Ahmed Nawaz Soomro, and others.
The protesters termed the incident an attack on press freedom. They said that such incidents bring disrepute to Pakistan at the international level and demanded strict action against those responsible.
