Sanjeewa Pattiwila assumes office as Sri Lanka’s new Consul General in Karachi

KARACHI, Oct 03 (APP): The Government of Sri Lanka has appointed Sanjeewa Pattiwila as the new Consul General at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi. He officially assumed office on Friday.
Pattiwila brings nearly 25 years of experience in public service and diplomacy. He joined the Sri Lanka Public Service in 1999 following his graduation from the University of Kelaniya. In 2005, he entered the Department of Commerce, where he currently serves as Director of Commerce.
Throughout his distinguished career, Pattiwila has held various key diplomatic and administrative roles. He has previously served at Sri Lankan missions in Sweden, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia, including his most recent posting as Minister (Commercial) at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh from 2019 to 2023.
He holds a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo, a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies and Public Policy from the Open University of Sri Lanka, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (Hons) from the University of Kelaniya.
An expert in trade policy, Rules of Origin, customs procedures, and Certificates of Origin, Pattiwila has represented Sri Lanka in numerous bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen trade and diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
