SARGODHA, Oct 03 (APP):The district administration has launched a large-scale crackdown on commercial vehicles using illegal LPG cylinders, resulting in impounding of 25 vehicles and imposition of hefty fines.
The operation was carried out across the district on the directions of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Muhammad Tahir to ensure the safety of passengers amid rising temperatures and increasing incidents of cylinder explosions.
During the drive, several vans and pickup vehicles found with LPG cylinders were taken into custody and shifted to police stations.
Several First Information Reports (FIRs) were also registered against the vehicle owners by the (RTA).
The task force removed LPG cylinders from the vehicles and discarded them on-the-spot as a safety measure.
Secretary Regional Transport Authority said the campaign had been launched to protect public lives and that such dangerous vehicles would not be allowed to operate on roads under any circumstances. He added that the special teams have been formed to thoroughly check commercial vehicles throughout the district. The district administration affirmed that strict legal action would continue against violators to ensure public safety.
