PESHAWAR, Oct 2 (APP):Under the supervision of the Department of Culture, Tourism, Archaeology and Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, operations against encroachments and illegal constructions are underway at various tourist sites in the province as part of efforts to improve tourism infrastructure and implement the Chief Secretary’s Good Governance Road-map.
The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) on Thursday, in collaboration with the District Administration Abbottabad, carried out a large-scale crackdown in Kundla, Touheedabad, Ayubia, and Khanspur. The operation was led by GDA Enforcement Officer Wasif Mir, while Additional Assistant Commissioner Shameem Ullah Khan, DSP Galiyat Imtiaz Ali, and Building Control Authority staff were also present on the spot. During the action, more than 20 commercial buildings were sealed.
These structures were shut down because their owners had neither obtained formally approved building plans from the authority nor legally registered their land.
Director General of the Galiyat Development Authority, Shahrukh Ali, stated that indiscriminate action against illegal constructions will continue to preserve the natural beauty and environmental balance of Galiyat.
Tourism Secretary Dr Abdul Samad remarked that GDA’s recent actions are fully aligned with government policies aimed at promoting legal constructions, ensuring environmental protection, and maintaining the natural charm of Galiyat.
