ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (APP):The Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production met on Thursday with Senator Mohammad Abdul Qadir in the Chair to deliberate on the resolution of outstanding issues related to the Gwadar Shipyard Development Project, including land acquisition, public grievances and environmental concerns.
The Committee was briefed by the Secretary, Ministry of Defence Production and Chief Secretary Balochistan on the hurdles currently being faced in the execution of the Gwadar Shipyard Project.
The committee was apprised of the concerns of the local community, as well as possible options and feasibility for the project’s implementation.
After detailed discussion and deliberations, it was decided that follow-up meetings will be held in Gwadar as well as in Quetta, wherein Chief Minister Balochistan and all other stakeholders will be invited.
The Chairman Committee said that after the establishment of Shipyard, it will benefit the local community and country.
The meeting was attended by Senators Abdul Shakoor Khan, Rana Mahmood ul Hassan, and Bilal Ahmed Khan. Ex-Senator Kauda Babar and Moulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, MPA Gwadar, also joined the meeting via Zoom link.
