ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (APP):Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Albert Khorev, Thursday highlighted the benefits of learning Russian language, stating, “learning Russian language is not only a means for educational advancement but also opens numerous new doors for business and career opportunities.”
He expressed these views while addressing the ceremony for the distribution of certificates to the third and fourth batches of Russian language students at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
The ambassador further said that there were excellent opportunities in Russia for Pakistani youth, urging them to start learning Russian today.
He added that the Russian Language Center (RLC) at AIOU played an important role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and promoting cultural exchange.
The ceremony began formally with a welcome and introductory speech by the Registrar, Raja Umar Younis, who warmly welcomed the attendees.
Vice Chancellor Professor, Dr Nasir Mahmood, during his address said that the Open University gave special importance to international cooperation and the success of the Russian language course is a clear reflection of this commitment.
“Education will further strengthen relations between Pakistan and Russia,” he said.
Dr Nasir also noted that the university provided training and enabling to achieve educational goals easily to those Pakistani students who were interested in higher education in Russia and came to the university to learn the language.
Alina Kolesnikova, third secretary for Education and Culture at the Russian Embassy, described the RLC at the AIOU as an important step in fostering friendly relations and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Russian language instructor, Ekaterina Andriets, highlighted the achievements and key aspects of the course.
Dr Zahid Majid, Director of International Collaboration and Exchange, gave a brief on the university’s profile and cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Russian Federation, stating that this educational partnership played an important role in providing academic opportunities for students of both countries and promoting cultural exchange.
He further mentioned that the university had established the Russian Language and Culture Center in 2023 and today they were awarding certificates to 28 graduates of the third and fourth batches.
At the end of the ceremony, certificates were distributed among the students and all participants described this successful program as a positive step in the educational relations between the two countries.
