QUETTA, Oct 2 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday announced a major overhaul of the Zakat and Auqaf Department aimed at digitizing the province’s Zakat system.
The initiative seeks to ensure transparent, merit-based distribution of Zakat funds directly to the digital accounts of deserving recipients.
Presiding over the meeting, CM Bugti emphasized the importance of leveraging modern technology to eliminate corruption and irregularities in the Zakat system.
He directed that data from NADRA and support from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) be utilized to accurately identify and reach deserving individuals.
“This digital transformation will restore public trust and ensure that Zakat reaches those who truly need it,” said Bugti.
“Our priority is to build a system rooted in transparency and merit, offering maximum relief to the poor and vulnerable segments of society.”
The meeting focused on a consensus to implement digital mechanisms across Balochistan, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social justice and efficient resource allocation.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Mir Mohammad Sadiq Umrani, Parliamentary Secretary for Zakat, Shahnaz Umrani, Principal Secretary to the CM, Babar Khan, Secretary Zakat and Auqaf Muhammad Ishaq Jamali, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, and Additional Secretary Chief Minister Secretariat Muhammad Fareedon.
