SARGODHA, Oct 02 (APP):Professor Dr Abdul Saboor Tahami of Sargodha Medical College emphasized the importance of health department guidelines to protect against dengue fever.
Speaking to APP on Thursday, Dr Tahami explained that while classic and mild forms of dengue fever are less dangerous, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever—transmitted by the Aedes mosquito—is highly hazardous and requires immediate medical attention.
He advised the public to install wire screens on windows and doors and to strictly adhere to official safety measures. Dr Tahami also stressed the importance of using mosquito nets, insect repellents, and covering water containers to prevent mosquito breeding.
He urged citizens to maintain clean surroundings and eliminate stagnant water, especially in pots, buckets, and plant containers.
“The dengue mosquito breeds in clean water and usually bites at dawn and dusk,” he warned.
The professor also highlighted common symptoms of dengue, including high fever, skin rashes, red spots, pain in the eyes, head, and joints, and vomiting. He urged individuals experiencing these symptoms to seek medical attention promptly.
Dr Tahami said that the government had launched a public awareness campaign for dengue prevention which included insecticide spraying at railway stations, bus stands, ponds, and other mosquito breeding sites.
