LAHORE, Oct 01 (APP):The Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) rescued over 459,151 people and livestock during Pakistan’s largest-ever flood boat rescue operation. In addition, the service responded to 219,042 emergencies and rescued 218,831 victims across the province in September 2025.
Chairing a monthly performance review meeting at Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Wednesday, Secretary Emergency Services Dr. Rizwan Naseer appreciated the efforts of rescuers and district emergency officers. He noted that more than 35,000 boat trips were conducted using 1,517 boats to evacuate stranded people from flood-hit areas, especially in southern Punjab.
He said the operation is still ongoing in Multan and Muzaffargarh, where boats are being used not only for evacuation but also for supporting survey teams, delivering food and providing medical care through the “Clinic on Boats” initiative.
Despite the flood emergency, Rescue 1122 maintained routine operations, responding to a wide range of cases across the province. Emergency data for September 2025 includes 146,410 medical emergencies, 42,065 road traffic crashes, 6,417 childbirth cases, 5,708 falls and slips, 3,956 crime incidents, 2,116 occupational injuries, 1,631 electric shocks, 1,547 animal rescues, 1,259 fire incidents, 292 burn cases, 128 structural collapses, 108 drowning cases and 7,405 miscellaneous emergencies
Dr. Rizwan expressed serious concern over the 128 incidents of structural collapse during the month, which claimed 23 lives and injured 208 others. He noted that this figure is more than double the 60 collapses reported in September 2024, and urged the public to check the structural stability of rooftops and buildings ahead of the winter season.
Heads of the Emergency Services Department’s key wings attended the meeting in person, while all divisional and district emergency officers joined via video link to share operational updates and highlight challenges faced during flood response and other critical incidents.
