PHNOM PENH, Sept. 29 (Xinhua/APP): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Cambodia’s Techo Startup Center have jointly launched a Digital Adoption Initiative (DAI) to intensify micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) digitalization in the Southeast Asian country, said an ADB press release on Monday.
The DAI will help hundreds of Cambodian MSMEs adopt digital technologies between now and 2028, boosting their competitiveness and productivity, the press release said, adding that the program will take a phased approach, focusing on one major industry sector each year, starting with tourism.
The initiative is part of Cambodia’s broader effort to build a vibrant digital economy and society, in line with the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035.
“The Digital Adoption Initiative will support MSMEs to integrate digital solutions into their daily operations, helping them become more competitive, resilient, and future-ready,” ADB Country Director for Cambodia Jyotsana Varma said.
“By working closely with the Techo Startup Center and industry associations, we aim to ensure that Cambodian enterprises can thrive in the digital economy,” she added.
Nguonly Taing, executive director of the Techo Startup Center, said the initiative will give Cambodian MSMEs practical tools to grow stronger in the digital economy.
“By focusing on key sectors, we can direct resources to areas of the economy where digital solutions will have the biggest impact on competitiveness, job creation, and women’s entrepreneurship,” he said.
