SMIU holds Defence, Martyrs Day rally

KARACHI, Sep 08 (APP):Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) organised a solidarity rally to commemorate Pakistan’s Defence and Martyrs Day on Monday.
Vice Chancellor of the university Dr Mujeeb Sahrai led it. Rally was commenced from the Main Building of the university and culminated near its I.T. Tower. Deans, chairpersons of academic departments, heads of different administrative sections, faculty, administrative staff, other employees and students of SMI University and SMIU Model School participated.
On this occasion a commemorative program was also held at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium of the university, which was chaired by Vice Chancellor. Addressing the audience, the Vice Chancellor praised the great and courageous services and sacrifices of Pakistan Armed Forces during the War of 1965 against India.
He said that our Armed Forces very courageously defended our motherland by fighting against the enemy. “Our brave forces crushed the evil intentions of India in the war of 1965. Similarly, they defeated India a few months ago,” Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai said and added that we all must salute our forces who have always defended the country with national commitment and patriotism.
Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, Dean of SMIU in his speech presented great tribute to the martyrs who gave sacrifices in the War of 1965 and said that it is our prime responsibility to remember our brave soldiers who defended the country during Indian aggressions on different times.
Students of SMIU also presented tribute to the martyrs of the 1965 by singing a national song.
