LAHORE, Sep 08 (APP): Under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, significant progress has been made in clearing flood water from Gujrat, as a large part of the city has now been drained.
The chief minister directed government officers and field staff to remain on duty until the complete drainage of flood water is achieved. She noted that a crack in the protective dam of Madina Syedan has slowed down the process, but efforts are being made to divert accumulated water towards the Halsi stream with the help of government machinery and local residents.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the relevant staff is working to stop further inflow of water into the city and stressed that efforts will continue until Gujrat is completely cleared of flood water.
