Health Minister reviews flood situation in Sialkot

SIALKOT, Aug 28 (APP):Provincial Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Disaster Management Khawaja Salman Rafique on Thursday visited Sialkot, to review the ongoing flood situation.
During the visit, he received a detailed briefing from rescue officials and other officers concerned. The Minister also inspected the flooding of Rangpura Chowk, Nullah Bhed, Nullah Palkhu and Nullah Aik.Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Abbas Zulqarnain and MD Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Faisal Shahzad  accompanied him.
The Minister was informed that the district administration along with rescue teams had been mobilized to complete the evacuation of the residents and livestock from the affected areas.He appreciated their timely response during the emergency.
The health minister expressed grief over the loss of lives caused by the floods,adding that he directed officials to restore the flood-affected roads and bridges.
He added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif  had directed to compile detailed reports on damages to houses, livestock and crops, while hospitals were put on alert to deal with the emergency situation.
He warned that rising water levels in the Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab rivers could worsen the situation. He stressed that all available resources must be utilized to ensure the protection of citizens.
He directed that all the relevant rescue and relief agencies should remain on high alert,ensuring uninterrupted provision of food, clean water and medicines.He emphasized that there was no room for negligence and called for continuous coordination across the province.
Khawaja Salman Rafique also directed all the Deputy Commissioners and other district administrations to remain active in the field. He also appealed to the citizens to stay at home and avoid unnecessary movement.
