KMU mobilizes health team in Buner, launches donation drive for flood victims

PESHAWAR, Aug 25 (APP):On the directives of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar has deployed its Public Health Reference Laboratory (PHRL) team to District Buner following the recent floods.
The team, consisting of trained medical laboratory technicians and specialists, is providing diagnostic and healthcare services in coordination with the District Health Officer (DHO).
The deployment aims to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, strengthen flood relief activities, and ensure timely testing for quick response.
A collection point has been set up in Buner with rapid testing kits, while other tests are being sent to PHRL Peshawar for immediate processing. The team has also visited various medical camps to inform people about the testing services available.
In addition, KMU has established a free medical camp in Buner, treating more than 500 patients daily. This initiative is addressing urgent health needs of flood-affected communities.
KMU has also launched a donation drive to support families in Buner, Swat, and Bajaur who have lost their homes, livelihoods, and basic necessities. Faculty, administrative staff, and students are actively participating by setting up donation camps at the main campus and collecting contributions from door to door.
