Russian, Jordan ink agreement on visa-free travel for citizens

MOSCOW, Aug 21 (APP): Russia and Jordan have officially signed an agreement enabling their citizens to travel without the requirements of visa.

Marking a major step forward in bilateral cooperation, the deal was signed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Wednesday, a statement said issued here.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the agreement is expected to “further boost humanitarian and tourist exchanges, as well as expand our business ties with Jordan.”

The international partnership between Russia and Jordan has opened new doors for young people. Alabuga, one of Russia’s largest industrial hubs which launched Alabuga Start, has come up with a forward-thinking initiative designed to attract and develop young global talents. The programme is widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive and impactful pathways to professional growth for young specialists aged 18 to 22.

Supported by the Russian Ministry of Labour, Alabuga Start works as an employment programme offering young people hands-on work experience in a dynamic modern environment.

It offers opportunities for women from over 70 countries, including nations across the Middle East (such as Jordan and Egypt), Asia (India, Vietnam, Nepal, Thailand, and nearly ten others), as well as African and Latin American countries.

The programme combines professional training with real-work experience, empowering young women to build careers from scratch, while fostering qualified personnel engagement and international collaboration. The applicants can choose one of seven fields including catering, service & hospitality, production operator, road transport shop (driver), finishing works, logistics, installation works, etc.

Oshadi Thotagamuwa from Sri-Lanka, a 21-year-old programme participant who started her journey a year ago in the field of service and hospitality field said she was inspired by the opportunities Alabuga Start offered. She termed it a launching platform for future global professionals aiming for careers in technology, industry, and innovation.
