LAHORE, Aug 20 (APP): Humid weather with scattered rains continued to prevail in the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday, while Met office predicting similar weather during the next 24 hours.
Scattered rain was observed in various city localities while on the other hand WASA Lahore was fully mobilized its field teams and machinery.
MD WASA Ghufran Ahmed instructed to keep all fields and machinery ready at all times. He further directed to keep generators on standby at all disposal stations and pumps of all disposal stations should be kept operational and screens should be kept clean.
MET officials warned that torrential rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Sindh (Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tharparker, Umer Kot, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, Jamshoro). Torrential rains may generate flash floods in north/southeastern parts of Balochistan from 19th to 22nd August. Heavyfalls, windstorms, and lightning may damage weak structures (kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, solar panels, etc.) during the forecast period. Public, travellers, and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to vulnerable areas to prevent any untoward situation and remain updated with the latest weather conditions.
MET officials said seasonal low lied over central Balochistan while strong moist currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal were continuously penetrating southern parts of the country.
Rainfall was recorded at several cities across the country. Wednesday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Nokkundi where mercury reached 42°C while in Lahore it was 33°C.
