KARACHI, Aug 20 (APP): The met offices, Wednesday, predicted widespread rain, wind thundershower with ‘scattered heavy falls at times very heavy’ in most parts of Sindh and warned of flooding risks at Karachi, Hyderabad and other urban centers of the province.
The weather conditions in Karachi during next 24 hours will remain cloudy with chances of intermittent rain and thunderstorm with scattered moderate to few heavy falls.
According to the Meteorological Department of Pakistan, during the next 24 hours, widespread rain-wind/thundershower (with scattered heavy falls at times very heavy) is expected in Karachi Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions while at scattered places in Larkana, and Sukkur divisions.
Rain-wind, thundershower occurred in Sindh with scattered heavy falls in southeast Sindh during the previous 24 hours. Karachi (Gulshan-e-Hadeed 178, Keamari 173, Old Area Airport 164, Jinnah Terminal 156, Nazimabad 150, Surjani Town 151, North Karachi 149, Saadi Town 146, DHA 138, Met Office University Road 145, Korangi 139, Faisal Base 133, Gulshan-e-Maymar 103, Masroor Base 101, Orangi Town 81, Bahria Town 05); Hyderabad (Airport 58, City 43); Nawabshah 51, Sakrand 42, Mirpur Khas 19, Tando Jam 18, Mithi 13, Thatta 07, Chhor 05, Dadu 03 and Badin 01 m.m.
The met office issued a warning that torrential rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Sindh including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tharparker, Umer Kot, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, Jamshoro; and also called for necessary arrangements and precautionary measures.
