QUETTA, Aug 20 (APP): Balochistan Food Authority (BFA)’s food safety team conducted a major operation on Sarki Road and traced two illegal food units and sealed them on the spot for various reasons and serious violations of food safety laws.
The said units included a Khoya supplier and a juice production unit which were secretly established in residential houses, during the inspection, the Khoya supplier did not have any kind of receipt or traceability record.
According to BFA, the Khoya was stored in the unit in a very poor and unhygienic condition,
Moreover, the unit was being operated without a BFA license. On the other hand, drinks were being produced under the names of fake and unregistered brands in the juice production unit.
The team found that the storage of raw materials and finished products was in a very poor condition while the processing line was also found to be defective and substandard, the juice packaging had wrong addresses and fake contact numbers and no lab report was provided.
The food safety team took samples of four different brands of juice produced in the unit on the spot and sent them for laboratory analysis.
According to initial evidence, these products could prove to be dangerous to public health, based on which action was taken against the units.
The BFA spokesperson said that strict action would continue against those who are playing with public health and no one would be allowed to manufacture or sell substandard and fake products.
