ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): Pakistani embassies across the world celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day anniversary with traditional zeal and fervour by holding flag hoisting ceremonies and highlighting historical significance of the day.
SAUDI ARABIA
On the national occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day anniversary, a graceful flag hoisting ceremony was held at the under construction Chancery building of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah.
Consul General of Pakistan Khalid Majid led the ceremony, joined by a large Pakistani community and legendary cricketer Javed Miandad who witnessed with great pride and honour as the National Flag rose amidst the national anthem.
Special messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out during the occasion. Students from Pakistani School delivered patriotic speeches portraying Pakistan’s vibrant history, cultural heritage and remarkable accomplishments
Consul General Khalid Majid, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the day, and payed tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan. He highlighted country’s achievements in various fields and underlined the paramount success achieved recently in Marka-e-Haq which will go down in the history as a golden chapter when our nation stood the test of the time and proved its worth as an independent nation. People of Pakistan are greatful to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia for their diplomatic support in this war. He also expressed his deep admiration for the Pakistani community living in Jeddah and their contribution towards promoting the economic development of Saudi Arabia and brotherly relation between the two countries.
Prominent community members Mr. Masood Ahmad Puri and Ch Shahabaz Hussain also adressed the gathering and highlighted significance of this day and blessings of freedom. The ceremony concluded on a joyous note, with a cake-cutting ceremony, gifts distribution among children. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity and well-being of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Participants made special supplications for Kashmir and Palestinian brethren, who continue to face atrocities in their freedom struggle against occupant forces.

EGYPT
The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with traditional zeal. Ambassador Aamir Shouket hoisted the national flag at the Chancery, followed by the National Anthem, recitation from the Holy Quran, and messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister.
In his address, Ambassador Shouket paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding fathers under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He lauded the nation’s unity and resilience, particularly during Operation Bunyan-Al-Marsoos in May 2025, which he said enhanced Pakistan’s global standing as a responsible and dignified state.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples, the Ambassador also highlighted the growing political, economic, defence, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Egypt. He praised the Pakistani community in Egypt for their contributions to national development and their role in strengthening bilateral relations.
The ceremony was attended by Embassy officials and members of the Pakistani community from various walks of life.
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with national zeal and enthusiasm. A large number of Pakistani community members, along with their families, attended the event.
Messages from the leadership of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the United Arab Emirates, warmly welcomed the guests and congratulated the community on the auspicious occasion. He underscored the guiding principles of unity, faith, and discipline as the foundation for Pakistan’s continued socio-economic progress, and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and stability of the beloved homeland.
Paying tribute to the nation’s strength, resilience, and unity in the face of recent external aggression, the ambassador highlighted the success in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as historic milestones. He described these as powerful demonstrations of Pakistan’s unshakable national will and professional excellence.
Ambassador Tirmizi urged the Pakistani diaspora to maintain their constructive role in the country’s development, lauding their contributions to the growth of the UAE and their vital support to Pakistan’s economy through remittances amounting to USD 7.9 billion last year.
Commending the Mission’s IT team, the Ambassador announced the launch of an online passport and National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) tracking system to further streamline consular services for the Pakistani community. He also noted that two community schools had, for the first time in 20 years, achieved a good ranking, which is a testament to the collective efforts for educational improvement. He further shared that more Pakistani private schools have been approached to open branches in the UAE to enhance access to quality, affordable education for the community.
Expressing gratitude to the UAE government, the Ambassador acknowledged their support in making this year’s Pakistan Independence Day celebrations unprecedented in scale. The event, held on 10 August in Dubai Expo City attended by around 60,000 people, was the largest Pakistan Independence Day gathering held anywhere in the world.
As part of the celebrations, the Ambassador unveiled portraits of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, painted and gifted to the Embassy by Manzoor K. Hasrat. The ceremony also featured performances of national songs by schoolchildren, adding to the patriotic fervor of the day.
DUBAI

SINGAPORE
A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House, Singapore, today to celebrate the 78th Anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence and Marka-e-Haq.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Charge d’Affaires Salman Mahmood hoisted the national flag to the tune of the National Anthem, followed by the reading of the messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In his remarks, the Charge d’Affaires paid homage to the leaders of the Pakistan Movement for their tireless struggle and sacrifices in securing a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, where they could live in dignity in accordance with the principles of Islam. He also paid rich tribute to the Armed Forces for their role in defending the homeland.
Mahmood acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the country’s development and urged them to continue playing an active role in bringing economic prosperity to Pakistan.
A large number of members from the Pakistani community attended the ceremony. The participants observed two minutes of silence to honour the heroes of Pakistan’s freedom movement and to reaffirm moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.
The event concluded with prayers for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan, with special prayers for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
FRANCE
The Pakistan Embassy in Paris celebrated the 78th Pakistan’s Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony. Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch raised the Pakistani flag to the tune of the national anthem in the presence of members of the diaspora, embassy officials, and Pakistani families including a large number of children.
The messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion. The colourful Independence Day program included national songs and documentary. Later, the guests enjoyed traditional Pakistani food.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador paid tribute to the workers of the Pakistan Movement led by the Quaid-i-Azam and martyrs who gave their lives for Pakistan. She paid homage to teachers, workers, farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs who have contributed to the progress of Pakistan. She also expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their just struggle for independence.
Ambassador Baloch lauded the courage and professional excellence displayed by the armed forces of Pakistan in Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos in face of a naked aggression by India. This success, she said, has renewed a sense of pride and hope in the Pakistani nation and sent a loud message to the world that Pakistani has the will and strength to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ambassador also appreciated Pakistani community in France for their commitment to Pakistan and for their impressive contributions in promoting Pakistan-France relations.
CHENGDU, CHINA
The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu, organized a dignified event to celebrate 78 years of Pakistan’s Independence, on 14th August here.
The event was attended by Pakistanis living in Southwest China and officials of the consulate.
The event began with the traditional flag hoisting, followed by reading of the messages of the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister. In his remarks, Consul General, Mr. Tanvir A. Bhatti, paid rich tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan, and their visions for a prosperous, independent, and free Pakistan.
He also highlighted the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs, and the gallantry of Pakistan armed forces, especially in the recent conflict with an aggressor state.
The Consul General also expressed the hope that Pakistanis living in Southwest China would continue to work hard, and make their nation proud, and work as true ambassadors of the Pak-Sino friendship.
AFGHANISTAN
Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani said today as Pakistan marks its Independence Day, the nation also celebrates a historic victory in Maarka-e-Haq against India.
This triumph stands as a testament to Pakistan’s resilience in the face of India’s naked aggression against Pakistan, he added.
“Pakistani nation stands resolutely behind its armed forces and renews the commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s geographical and ideological frontiers,” he said while addressing the flag-hoisting ceremony at Pakistan’s embassy at Kabul to mark Independence Day.
Ambassador Nizamani paid glowing tributes to the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the immense sacrifices of the heroes of the independence movement and saluted the bravery and dedication of our armed forces, whose martyrs have secured the freedoms we cherish today. Ambassador Nizamani reiterated that the struggle for freedom continues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where Kashmiris endure oppression while fighting for their right to self-determination. Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people and their just struggle. It is our collective and individual duty to stand with Kashmir and advocate for their freedom at every platform.
Ambassador Nizamani urged upon the officers and staff to renew their commitment to building a strong, prosperous, and stable Pakistan. On this occasion messages of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were also read.
KYRGYZSTAN
The Embassy of Pakistan in Bishkek today hosted a flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate the 78th Independence Day Anniversary in the Chancery. The event commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran, followed by flag hoisting by Ambassador Hasan Zaigham, joined by Embassy officials and a large number of Pakistani community members.
Messages of felicitation from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out. Rich tributes were paid to the nation’s freedom struggle under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, which culminated in the creation of Pakistan on 14 August 1947. They underscored the importance of upholding the ideals of the leaders of the freedom movement, such as selfless commitment and devotion, for the development and progress of the country. The leadership of Pakistan also commended the brave armed forces of Pakistan for their heroic victory in operation Bunyan um Marsoos.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hasan Zaigham congratulated the Pakistani community on this auspicious occasion and shared the recent progress in Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan bilateral relations in various fields. A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission, Dhaka Thursday morning to celebrate the 78th Independence Day Anniversary of Pakistan. Pakistan’s High Commissioner (Designate) to Bangladesh, Imran Haider hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.
The ceremony was well attended by members of the Pakistani community in Bangladesh, Pakistani students, members of local media, academia, think tanks and staff of the High Commission.

The 78th Independence Day anniversary of Pakistan and Marka e Haq were celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor at the High Commission of Pakistan in Dar-es-Salaam, this morning.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Tanzania Siraj Ahmad Khan congratulated the Pakistani nation on the Independence Day. He congratulated the Pakistani diaspora on the remarkable success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and underscored the importance of unity, faith, and discipline to counter the enemy’s malicious intentions.
JAPAN
Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day anniversary was celebrated with great zeal & vigor at the Osaka Expo, Japan today. The Pakistan delegation, led by Mr. Haroon Akhtar, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Industry & Production, was joined by Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan.
The Advisor to the Prime Minister on Industry and Production delivered a detailed speech on the trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan. Fujii Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan also attended the event.
NORWAY
The Embassy of Pakistan in Oslo celebrated the 79th Independence Day anniversary of Pakistan and Marak-e-Haq of May 2025 with national zeal and dignity in a colourful ceremony organised at the Chancery premises on 14 August 2025.
The ceremony was attended by over five hundred members of the Pakistani community in Norway, as well as local friends of Pakistan. Besides distinguished guests from Norway and Pakistan including Mr. Knut Østby (Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam), decorated former Head of UNDP Pakistan, Mr. Khalid Mahmood (Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam), decorated author/former politician, Mr. Abid Raja, Member of the Norwegian Parliament, and Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhary of the Lahore High Court also graced the ceremony with their presence.
The celebrations began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (SAW). Ambassador Saadia Altaf Qazi hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem. Also a tremendous 6×4 meters flag was mounted on the Chancery wall, which was a special gift to the Embassy by former Deputy Speaker of Norwegian Parliament Akhtar Chaudhary (Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam).
Messages from the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Prime Minister and President of Pakistan were read out to the audience by Mr. Muhammad Faraz, Counsellor, Dr. Rabail Mustafa Soomro, Head of Chancery, and Ambassador Saadia Altaf Qazi, respectively.
A vibrant cultural programme followed featuring speeches, poetry recitations, live singing of national songs by spirited amateur singers and colourful fancy-dress parade of Pakistani-Norwegian youth in folk costumes representing Pakistan’s provinces. Children also presented a tableau on the national song “Mitti Ki Kasam” while speakers and poets paid tribute to the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan who won laurels for the country in Marka-e-Haq against India in May 2025.
In her keynote address, Ambassador Qazi underscored the significance of Independence Day, honouring the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding fathers. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to democracy, peace, and progress, and praised the Pakistani diaspora for their role in strengthening Pakistan–Norway relations.
Talking about Marka-e-Haq, the Ambassador highlighted the success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. She limned the Armed Forces’ operational excellence and deterrent capabilities, and paid homage to the shuhada who laid down their lives bravely during the Indian aggression in May 2025.
The ceremony also witnessed handing over of the accessories of Pakistan’s national award Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam to Mr. Knut Østby by the Ambassador on behalf of the President of Pakistan.
Towards the end of the ceremony, Appreciation Certificates were presented to performing participants in recognition of their patriotic contributions. The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the peace, prosperity, and progress of Pakistan, the well-being of overseas Pakistanis, and the just liberation of IIOJK and Palestine from illegal occupation. At the end, light lunch was served to all attendees.
MOROCCO
Pakistani community joined Pakistan’s embassy in Morocco to celebrate 78th Anniversary of Independence Day and Marka e Haq. The festive celebrations took off with flag-hoisting ceremony, speeches of President, PM & DPM/FM and video showcasing Pakistan’s victory over India.
Abassador Syed Adil Gilani congratulated community members on Marka e Haq and conveyed the message of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the audience.
INDIA
The High Commission for Pakistan, New Delhi celebrated the 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence, today.
Mr. Saad Ahmad Warraich, Chargé d’ Affaires of Pakistan to India, hoisted the national flag in an elegant ceremony at the Chancery Lawns. Officers and staff of the High Commission along with their families attended the event. Messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out on the occasion.
Paying homage to the heroic freedom struggle, the Charge’ d’ Affaires said that under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Muslims of the subcontinent altered the course of history in creating an independent homeland of their own. Pakistan was the fulfilment of an epic struggle for self-determination.
The Charge d’ Affaires said that the abiding lesson of the independence movement is that freedom is not free; the road to freedom was paved with the blood and sacrifice of countless martyrs. It is equally true that freedom cannot be taken for granted; it has to be preserved and defended every day. As recent developments affirm, Pakistan is fully capable of defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any external threat or aggression, he added.
The Chargé d’ Affaires said that during the course of the last 78 years, Pakistan has made remarkable progress on its journey towards advancement and prosperity. He eulogised the heroic sacrifices of the nation’s defenders, who laid their lives for the protection and dignity of the motherland.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, the Charge’ d’ Affaires said that the goal of regional peace can be achieved on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual trust and peaceful settlement of all disputes, including Jammu and Kashmir – while an outlook built on dialogue and diplomacy can serve as a harbinger for a bright future for South Asia, any approaches rooted in hegemonic notions of domination and control, will on the other hand, continue to hold back the promise of regional prosperity and development.
Clad in traditional attire, children of all ages, delivered heartwarming performances depicting the various aspects of the freedom movement.
A special cake was also cut by the Chargé d’Affaires, along with his spouse as well as other officers of the Mission.
AUSTRIA
The day was also celebrated in Vienna, Austria at Pakistan’s embasssy.
Ambassador Kamran Akhtar delivered a speech to mark the occasion and highlighted the significance of the day and apprised about the events of the freedom struggle.
UNITED STATES
Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh in a message on the occasion of Independence Day extended his congratulations to all Pakistanis living in Pakistan, America and around the world.
He said, “Independence Day is a day of renewal of commitment. It is a day of renewal of commitment to freedom. But this time, August 14 has come three months after Marka-e-Haq in which we renewed pledge to our sovereignty and freedom.”
“The event has shown and proved that Pakistanis living in Pakistan and any region of the world are always ready to protect their freedom,” he added.
UNITED KINGDOM
Pakistan High Commission, London celebrated 78th Anniversary of the Independence Day with traditional zeal and enthusiasm today. The day also marked the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and celebration of Marqa-e-Haq. High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal hoisted Pakistan flag to the tune of National Anthem. The special ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister / Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read.
In his address, High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal paid homage to the founding fathers who fought and sacrificed for a homeland. He said that our founding fathers remained united for a cause and achieved freedom for the Muslims of the Sub-continent in the form of a seprate homeland, Pakistan. In the same spirit, the entire Pakistani Nation remained united and along with valiant Military Forces overcame an enemy, bigger in size and resources, during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
The High Commissioner said that we owe our freedom to the Shuhuda and Ghazis as debt that can never be repaid. Dr. Faisal reaffirmed Pakistan’s support at all fora for the Kashmiri brethren who are striving for their right to self-determination.
The High Commissioner reiterated the importance of unity among Pakistani diaspora in UK and appreciated the hard work, dedication & passion of British Pakistanis who are playing an important role in bridging Pakistan and the UK. He emphasized on participation of youth and overseas Pakistanis in the economic development of Pakistan.
Dr. Mohammad Faisal announced that Pakistan International Airline (PIA) will soon resume flight operations to the UK. He also informed about the instantiation of Pakistan – UK Trade Dialogue that will further strengthen ties between Britain and Pakistan.
During the ceremony, the High Commissioner, on behalf of the President of Pakistan, conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) to Commodore Jawad Khawaja, Pakistan Navy, presently posted as Defence & Naval Advisor, Pakistan High Commission, London.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels marked the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with patriotic fervor in a dignified ceremony at the Chancery.

The event was attended by a large number of Pakistanis from Belgium and Luxembourg, including women and children. Guests later enjoyed a traditional Pakistani brunch, providing an opportunity for the community to come together in celebration.
