Riyadh, Aug 12 (SPA/APP): The fifth week of the Esports World Cup (EWC 2025) concluded with historic achievements and the crowning of new champions, adding fresh chapters to the tournament’s legacy in Riyadh, amid exceptional competition and remarkable fan attendance.
The week saw the crowning of three new champions in dramatic finals that reflected the high skill level and professionalism of participating elite clubs and players from around the globe. Team Liquid achieved an unprecedented feat as the first club to win three titles in a single edition of the EWC, after clinching the EA SPORTS FC 25 title to reinforce their dominant presence this year. Team Secret claimed their first-ever Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege championship with a decisive 3-0 victory over G2 Esports in an intense all-European showdown, marking a remarkable run that began with a third-place continental ranking and capitalized on the early exit of Team Falcons to secure their place among the game’s elite champions.
In the Call of Duty: Warzone championship, Saudi team Twisted Minds made history by winning their first title after a fiercely contested battle that stretched to the tenth match against Virtus.pro, ultimately securing victory by a narrow margin and showcasing the team’s strength and cohesion.
The EA SPORTS FC 25 competition also saw Dutch star Manuel Bachoore (ManuBachoore) of Team Liquid secure his second world title by defeating France’s Brice Mason (Brice) of Team Vitality 5-3. This victory boosted Team Liquid’s points tally, putting them at the top of the Club Championship standings with 4,200 points, ahead of Team Falcons, who earned only 200 points this week, narrowing the gap with Team Vitality to 550 points with several decisive tournaments remaining.
On the sidelines, the week featured special events, including a friendly EA SPORTS FC 25 match between football legends Ronaldo and Kaka at stc Arena, blending football’s heritage with the world of esports.
The EWC Foundation also announced the participation of renowned Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, founder of Kojima Productions, in the tournament and the New Global Sports Conference, where he will present exclusive insights into the development of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Kojima will meet fans at the Publishers Park area of the festival and join cosplay activities inspired by the game.
