ISLAMABAD, Aug 11 (APP):The GSMA Digital Nation Summit 2025 brought together senior leaders from government, telecom, fintech, and global development agencies to chart a roadmap for a secure, inclusive, and innovation-driven digital Pakistan.
A key highlight of the summit was the participation of Ahmed Bilal Masud, Deputy CEO of Huawei Pakistan, in a high-level panel discussion focused on Unlocking Investment – Creating a Sustainable and Competitive Telecom Environment.
Exploring the impact of taxation, spectrum policy, and regulatory reforms on digital investment and sustainability.
The session also highlighted how emerging technologies such as 5G, AI, and cloud infrastructure can unlock new investment opportunities, drive efficiencies, and improve digital service delivery across sectors. His insights reflected Huawei’s global expertise in building secure, scalable networks and its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s digital transformation.

The summit addressed critical themes including, the rollout of 5G and LEO satellite internet, expansion of AI and FinTech across Pakistan’s economy, reforming telecom taxation and spectrum pricing and bridging the mobile internet usage gap, especially among women and rural communities.
Ahmed Bilal Masud’s participation underscored Huawei’s role as a strategic partner in Pakistan’s digital ecosystem. With decades of experience in telecom leadership, he has spearheaded multiple nationwide digitalization initiatives and played a pivotal role in establishing Huawei’s Global Service Center in Pakistan.
The event also featured the launch of GSMA’s Pakistan Spotlight Report, offering new data on mobile usage, infrastructure gaps, and investment potential. Industry leaders including CEO from Huawei Pakistan Ethan Sun, CEO Jazz Aamir Ibrahim , CEO Telenor Khurram Ashfaque , Easypaisa, and senior official for IT and Telecom Ministry joined the summit to share their vision for a connected and resilient Pakistan.

The GSMA Digital Nation Summit is a flagship regional event designed to accelerate digital transformation across Asia Pacific. The 2025 edition in Islamabad marked a critical moment for Pakistan’s ICT sector, aligning stakeholders on shared goals around innovation, trust, and resilience.
