Food points fined for hygiene violations

MULTAN, Jul 29 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out  inspections across Multan, Khanewal, and Vehari and discarded over 25 kilogram substandard food items and 10 kilogram low-quality pickles.
The operations, conducted under the directives of the Director General of PFA, targeted various food outlets including sweet shops, milk sellers, grocery stores, bakeries, and ice factories.
Two bakeries on Jail Road and Bosan Road were fined Rs70,000 for storing expired food in freezers, failing to cover food items properly, and not possessing medical certificates for workers.
A milk seller at Bagh Hussain Chowk was fined Rs12,000 after PFA’s testing team found low fat content and poor nutritional value in the milk samples. Two hotels in Tariqabad and near the modern feed mill in Kabirwala were penalized Rs25,000 for using substandard spices, poor hygiene in kitchen areas, and non-compliance with PFA’s prior instructions.
A grocery store at Phatak Bazaar, Mohsinwal, was fined Rs35,000 for selling untraceable preserved foods (murabba/jams) lacking source or labeling information.
An ice factory at Luddan Adda was fined Rs15,000 after insects were discovered inside the ice blocks.
Two superstores in Mailsi and Burewala were fined Rs12,000 each for selling expired products, having no purchase/sale records, and serious pest infestation in storage areas, all in violation of food safety regulations.
